Without Leader, Tisbury Business Association May Dissolve

There are new businesses opening on Main street Vineyard Haven, but the town business association may be losing steam. Tisbury business association president Dawn Braasch announced this week that she is stepping down from her position, and said if a replacement cannot be found the organization may fold.

“I am sending this notice to let you know that I am withdrawing as president of the TBA. I had hoped someone else on the board would come forward to take the reins of the association, but no one has,” said Ms. Braasch in an email to the association sent Oct. 30.

Main Street Flaunts Moxie with Year-Round Business Revival

After the last hurrah of Columbus Day weekend, many of the Main street business owners in Vineyard Haven hang signs on their doors saying “Closed” or “See You Next Season.”

On the corner of Main and Centre streets, the long-awaited Cafe Moxie is finally open.

“Art Buchwald once wrote in his national column that Leslie’s Drug Store was the place to learn what’s going on,” said Leslie Leland, proprietor and only the third owner of the drug store in well over 100 years.
