Lama Yeshe returns to Bodhi Path of Martha’s Vineyard for Summer 2014 teachings, through Sept. 21. The topic of this summer’s teachings is Tools For Enlightenment. The teachings are Sundays at 10 to 11:15 a.m.
With sadness, Bodhi Path Buddhist Centers announced that founder and spiritual leader Shamar Rinpoche passed away suddenly on June 11, 2014, in Renchen-Ulm, Germany. Shamar Rinpoche, who was born in 1952, was the 14th Shamarpa, or Red Hat Lama of Tibet. Until his death, Shamar Rinpoche was the lineage holder of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, along with His Holiness Karmapa Trinlay Thaye Dorje.
Dharma teacher Choepel will make his first visit to The Bodhi Path Buddhist Center in West Tisbury for two teachings on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7 p. m. The topic is What Does Spirituality Have To Do With Me?
Lama Choepel will discuss the benefits of preparing solid foundations for the Buddhist path.
The Bodhi Path Buddhist Center in West Tisbury, the place where many Islanders and visitors practice Buddhist meditation and philosophy, hosted a very special event on Sunday. ShaMar Rinpoche, founder of the center and the third highest lama of Tibet, presided over a traditional haircutting ceremony and the official recognition of two-year-old Karma Yeshe Dorje as a tulku.
The Bodhi Path of Martha’s Vineyard will host a weekend teaching series with the Venerable 5th Dilyag Sabchu Rinpoche called Calm Abiding Meditation: A Mind Transformed on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 4 p.m. both days. The suggested donation is $15 to $20 per session.

Khenpo Tsering Samdup will be at the Bodhi Path of Martha’s Vineyard for a weekend teaching series on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29. He will teach on The Jewel Ornament of Liberation by Gampopa, the seminal handbook of the Kagyü Buddhist view and path. Teaching times are 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. both days. All are welcome.
Lama Tsony is back at the Bodhi Path Buddhist Center of Martha’s Vineyard in West Tisbury for a weekend retreat series. Known for his experience, and appreciated for his warmth, wit and accessibility, Lama Tsony teaches throughout Europe and the U.S.
On Saturday and Sunday, July 19 and 20, and Saturday and Sunday July 26 and 27, the Bodhi Path will offer a weekend retreat series with Lama Tsony. The topic is Mind’s True Nature Through Calm Abiding and Insight Meditation. The sessions run 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. each day.
