The Strand Theatre on the corner of Circuit avenue in Oak Bluffs is about to experience another rebirth after having been closed since the start of the pandemic.

Five years after a community campaign raised more than $1 million to renovate and reopen the Capawock and Strand, the two historic movie houses are without tenants again.

Given the current circumstances surrounding the pandemic, the Capawock and Strand theatres will go dark this summer, owner Mark Snider said Thursday.
