For the first time this year, voters on Martha’s Vineyard and across the state can choose to cast their ballots up to two weeks prior to election day. Early voting starts on Oct. 24.
Vineyard voters backed Robert Ogden for county sheriff and Paulo C. DeOliveira as Register of Deeds in Thursday’s primary, which sets the ballot for the November election.
In the only contested race during Wednesday's town election, Aquinnah voters elected Gary Haley to a three-year term as selectman.
Chilmark voters elected Carol (Candy) Shweder to the library board of trustees in the only contested race on the ballot for Wednesday’s annual town election.
Thursday’s town elections brought low turnout and few surprises, with voters in West Tisbury, Oak Bluffs and Edgartown easily approving spending requests.
With high turnout, Vineyard voters backed businessman Donald Trump and Sen. Bernie Sanders in Tuesday's closely watched presidential primary.
