2019 is a new year standing before us like 365 blank pages in a book just waiting to be filled with everything from the messy penmanship of daily life or the fancy calligraphy of well thought out plans.

In the words of Benjamin Franklin, “Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man.” 

As 2018 begins its journey to the end and the days begin to slowly get a bit longer, I share with you a few highlights that just might make your mind wander.

There are a number of semester schools out there for high schoolers but The Island School sits right at the top of the list.

Next Saturday is the day many of you have been waiting for.

Last Sunday evening hunters cleaned their shotguns, laid out their boots, set their early morning alarms and slept with visions of 10-point bucks dancing in their heads.

Whether you celebrate Winter Solstice, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or another holiday, Thanksgiving sets the tone for giving to and caring about others.

I can smell the pies baking — warm cinnamon and apples, pumpkin with a little nutmeg and gooey pecan ready to be topped with a little vanilla ice cream.

Paul MacDonald and his crew of Johnny Osmers and Tim Sauer on the Shearwater returned to the dock with a 109-inch giant bluefin tuna.
