The winter schedule on the Chappy Ferry begins on Sunday, Oct. 20 with an increase in service hours. That is, weather permitting, the ferry will begin operation at 6:30 a.m. and operate continuously until 10 p.m., then again from 11 to 11:15 p.m.
Also, beginning on Sunday, Oct. 20, only one ferryboat will be in service. Expect the vehicle waiting line to be longer during the normally busy times. If you remove your trailer hitch there may be just enough additional room on the ferry for your neighbor to get aboard.
The outside beach at the Chappy end of Norton Point has washed out due to severe erosion and OSV travel is impassible along that section of ocean beach.
The Chappy Book Club will meet Wednesday August 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the CCC to discuss The Girl in the Spider’s Web. This novel is the fourth in the Lisbeth Salander series, which was begun by Swedish author Steig Larrson and continued by David Lagercrantz after Larsson’s death. According to Wikipedia, in the only interview he ever did about the series, Larsson stated that he based the character of Lisbeth Salander on what he imagined Pippi Longstocking might have been like as an adult. Apparently, he figured that she would be a magnet for trouble.

I have always liked fractions. Mathematical fractions that is. I appreciate the way that they can help to develop comparisons or to fine tune a view point.
Here’s a good example: on July 15, we were one quarter of the way through summer. On July 21, we were one third of the way through summer. A span of only six days.
