It has been dreary and cold but they are predicting sun and heat next week. It is a good thing Easter is later so we can enjoy all the flowers that go along with the season.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Henry D’Andrea and Franklyn Schoenberg, who celebrated March 25; Sara Creato and Jared Davenport, March 29; Nicholas Carpenter, Brynn Savva and Wyndam Welles who celebrate their day March 31; and to Jon McCracken who celebrates his day tomorrow, April 1.

There has been a mini baby boom in Edgartown. Kara Shemeth and Tom Ignacio welcomed baby boy Samson Shemeth Ignacio on March 16 which was three weeks before his due date. Samson was born at 3:45 and weighed 8.33 pounds, and was 21 inches long.

Samson’s grandparents are Nancy and Peter Shemeth, and paternal grandparents are Nancy and David Ignacio from Van, Tex., who will be moving to the Island this summer. Congratulations to all.

Also born this that week was Harper Isabella Gilkes, born to Stephanie Immelt and Danny Gilkes. Harper was born at Falmouth Hospital at 8:20 a.m. and weighed 7 pounds, 20 ounces. She also has a big sister Hunter. Congratulations to all.

On Sunday I saw a post from my niece Lynn taking her twins Grant and Olivia to see Beauty and the Beast. So I looked up the movie to see if it was playing here and sure enough the 3D version was playing at 3:30 p.m. So I called Ella and my niece Audrey to see if they wanted to go. Of course they said yes. We got our tickets and they handed us our glasses. Now I may be showing my age or that I do not go to the movies that often as the last time I saw a 3D movie we had paper glasses. Instead we got a pair of glasses that were wrapped and looked like you could wear them outside. We watched the commercials and then we put on the glasses to watch the upcoming movie previews and I think I gasped. The effect was amazing. I was actually swimming with Johnny Depp and having a sword fight. I was thinking if this is the preview I would be in a full blown panic attack at the movie!

So we sat back and watched Beauty and the Beast and I was still in awe of all the glimmer and personal effects that were almost a reality and that the girls were not a bit affected by the effects. They were after all pros at this. The movie was fantastic and now that I am a pro at 3D I might go to more movies.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
