The sun was actually shining and we were all blinded. It was great. Now we can only hope it stays that way and maybe it could rain late at night and keep us all happy.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Avelly Otoni, who celebrated his day May 13; Russell Coogan, Broden Couto, Roa Sanchez and Elisa Siria, May 14; Mateo Deoliveria, May 15; Joao Nunes, Mau 16; and to Pedro Alves who celebrates his day May 18.
It is always a blast to see the fathers on Mother’s Day wandering around with the kids to try to figure what to give their wives for Mother’s Day. First they have the kids with them and some are too young and could not care less what is going on. Then there are the persistent kids who insist the mother would just love this plant. And then there are the ones who only care what is going on in the fish pond. But they all left with something and smiling.
The Writing Group will continue to meet weekly every Tuesday at Howes House in West Tisbury (across from Alley’s Store) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring a bag lunch or snacks to share.
As you all know, big things are happening at Featherstone. This year, due to the many inovations and improvements that are in the works, fundraisers are crucial. Featherstone’s third annual house tour is on June 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. For reservations and information, please call 508-693-1850.
The countdown is on for Memorial Day. The traffic is busier, the bike riders are out and about and there are more joggers. The caretakers are out and getting their properties together, the lawn guys are going crazy and the landscapers are preparing the gardens. The store owners are filling their window boxes and planters, and painters are sprucing up the trims on houses and painting fences. Yes, town is waking up.
Now we are looking forward to see our summer friends who will arrive in a few weeks and see how they are doing.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
