Last week noted shark expert Dr. Greg Skomal was busy tagging great white sharks off the Cape. Next week he’ll head indoors, and safely on land, to the Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs for a talk about his research into the world of the apex predators.

Mr, Skomal will present Seeing Deeper into the World of Great White Sharks, a talk about his research into sharks in Cape and Islands waters. Mr. Skomal and his team have used sophisticated technology to put acoustic tags on more than 100 sharks, allowing researchers to learn more about the sharks’ lives.

The event takes place on Thursday, July 26 from 8 to 9:30 p.m., sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association. Advance tickets are $20 for adults, and $25 at the door. Children under 12 are admitted for free. All proceeds go to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, which supports scientific research and public education about shark conservation.

Sharks are a hot ticket on the Vineyard; a sell-out crowd came to hear Mr. Skomal talk last summer at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown. For tickets visit atlanticwhiteshark.org/events or mvcma.org/greg-skomal.html.
