What beautiful weather we have been having. Last week was some of the best days with the cool air, no humidity and the bluest skies. Now the humidity is setting back in, not so bad yet as it is only Monday right now for this writing. I will say the plants and ground are screaming for rain and I hope we get some soon.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Clara Cabral and Samantha Morrell who celebrated their day July 21, Georgia DeRoche July 24, and to Diego Valentim who celebrates his day Friday, July 27.

Congratulations to Nisa and Peter (Freedman) Poulos who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 20. They both worked with the VNA. Happy anniversary and here is to many more years together.

I did a mini Island tour last week with Scott, my son from England, as I call him, and his friend Christina. We went to the farmer’s market at the Grange Hall. Of course we got the egg rolls, then on to Sundries, owned by Linda Alley. She makes the best jams and has so many different kinds. Her newest one is Traffic Jam which is blueberry, raspberry, strawberry and blackberry yum. If you go to her stand — Scott likes to call it a buffet — you can sample all her jams with crackers to taste. It is very hard to pick your favorite but you can always find her at the markets if you want to do a couple at a time.

We then went to the alpaca farm and watched Scott and Christina like they were little kids. It was a great time and the alpacas were adorable. We saw the baby and it was a good visit.

On Fourth of July I was talking to Dee Look Butynski who told me her mother Marge was in a nursing home in Centerville and would love to have some cards and letters from her Island friends, so here is her address: Marge, Look Harbor Point at Centerville, 22 Richardson Road, Centerville, Mass. 02632, room 304.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
