I think we were all taken aback when we woke up Saturday morning to find snow on the ground. Yes, they said we might get some but we never do. Surprise. But it soon warmed up and it went away and then the wind started. We are New Englanders, why would we be surprised?

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Aidden Dunnebier, April Petyoshin and Angel Petyoshin who celebrated March 25, and to Clarice Lima who celebrates her day today, March 29.

Special birthday wishes go out to Beth Erickson who celebrated her day March 21. Beth and her husband Bill have just returned home from their stay in Florida visiting friends and Bill’s mother Shirley Powers, who lives in Penney Farm, a retirement community in Florida.

I have been paying Donaroma’s a visit to see how spring is coming there. The floral department is showing great signs of spring plus Easter. The nursery is also filling with tulips and other spring bulbs, and the herbs are coming out and growing strong. It won’t be long before things are in full swing. Also, the trees and shrubs are arriving every day.

I know that Flat Point Farm has been on the news and all over the paper for their very sad tragedy and the loss of their animals. But I am so proud to be a part of a community that cares so much for each other and the fact that after that tragic morning a Go Fund me page was set up. Within 24 hours the goal was met and less than two days later it had doubled.

Yes, there are other places that do the same, but most of us have known each other for years. Flat Point Farm has been a big part of the community and agriculture. My friend Jan and I visited Arnie, the father, many times. I have a great picture of me holding one of the lambs from a visit there, as I’m sure many other people do from their own visits. So this really hit close to home for many, and I am once again proud to be a part of this great place.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
