The Island Queen ferry resumes its seasonal service between Falmouth and Oak Bluffs May 28, with updated Covid-19 precautions and a new online booking service and mobile app for advance ticket purchases, according to an announcement from the ferr company. The booking engine is called Anchor and was designed and programmed by Hornblower Group.

Passenger tickets may be purchased online at islandqueen.com/book or via the app, which is available on both the iOS and Android platforms.

“I am excited that our passengers will be able to easily book and manage their travel planning online, while still enjoying the classic Island Queen Ferry experience that generations have enjoyed since 1960,” said company president, Charles Bardelis Jr., in a statement.

Island Queen also announced its Covid precautions for the season, including doubling the size of the boarding area in Falmouth to provide comfortable space for social distancing, conducting employee wellness screenings prior to every shift and requiring face coverings for all passengers and staff, along with frequent regular cleaning and sanitizing.

“We believe our focus on safety and following up-to-date protocols will provide passengers with peace of mind when traveling this season as we welcome them aboard," general manager Todd Bidwell said in a statement.
