Covid strikes again. The famous annual Island Cup, a football trophy fought over by our Vineyarders against the Nantucket Whalers, has been cancelled this year. Next year’s rivalry will be much anticipated.

Some of our students did go off-Island for spring vacation. The adorable Brooklynn, daughter of Prudence Jean Fisher, took her friend Amber Willoughby and a posse of relatives to Disney World and other points south in Florida. I hear the weather was great and the attractions were fun and interesting. Can’t ask for more than that.

My young friend and assistant, Shane Vanderhoop-True, spent a fun 10 days with his Mom and sisters in upstate New York. The weather was not cooperative but Shane had a great time. All these kids are now back in their respective schools.

Up-Island Cronig’s has reopened after a year of renovations, just in time for the summer gang. I can’t wait to see it.

If you are missing attending concerts be sure to check out the Boston Pops virtual performance on line every Thursday. I can’t wait to be part of an audience again.

With great sadness I must report that Jen Colligan Kuehne has passed. I have known Jen since she was a little girl. No one was finer, classier, or more beautiful than this young woman. She was devoted to her family, friends and faith. Our condolences go out to all her family and friends.

Another great loss for our Island was the passing of Peter Herrmann. Peter was a Navy veteran and our quarter master at the VFW Post 9261. He will be greatly missed.

Jacqueline M. Beauvais had to say goodbye for now to her devoted companion, Scooter. Another loyal, loving dog is waiting to meet her again. Scooter was a Good Boy.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Jim Macdonald on May 6. Many happy returns.
