The weather roller coaster is still going. Last weekend we were in shirtsleeves, the birds are chirping earlier, and my favorite, blanket on and blanket off. Now this weekend we are cooler and have had temperatures in the 30s. Next weekend it is going to be cooler then normal. Oh, how I love New England.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons went out to Alexis Lavigne on April 25; Jackson Lucier, Alexia Vieira and Adriana Young who all celebrated on April 26; Hudson Smith on April 27; Heitor Alimateia, Sophia Pereira and Paige Smith on April 28; and to Dylan Klein, Sierra Meuse and Clara Rabeni, who all celebrate their day on April 29.

I have to admit that even though my street was quiet and there was very little traffic, I missed the kids going by to school. Now that the kids and teachers are back from vacation it feels normal again.

I see Jennifer Rankow Klein and her children going by in the morning, along with Brian Ditchfield and his two children, and Prudy Athearn and her two. I love seeing them and then it dawns on me it wasn’t all that long ago I was watching the three of them and their mothers taking them to school.

Dan Townes, his wife Lauren and their girls Camden and Ava have returned after a week at Disney. From the pictures I have seen, I don’t think they missed too many activities.

Jamie Craig and his son Griffin spent their school vacation in Hawaii, visiting Amelia Craig. They ziplined, snorkeled with sharks and, of course, visited Pearl Harbor.

The Class of 1972 is celebrating their 50-year reunion. This is my class and when I say 50 years ago, I remember thinking how old those people were. In any case we are hoping for a big turnout in October. From what I hear, there are classmates coming who have not attended the past reunions, so I am looking forward to seeing them all.

This Sunday is the first of May. It was once a time for celebrating the spring. There were May poles and kids would spring May baskets on their neighbors. Now it is just a day, a month of preparation for the summer. All the houses are being prepped for the summer visitors and, of course, the residents. This year it will be a little more free than the past couple of years. So, happy May.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
