On Sunday — Father’s Day — I was sitting in a chair with a sweater on and a blanket on my lap while I was writing. I refused to turn the heat on and was so tempted to, but that would break all the rules. On Monday we were all prepared for cool weather and before we knew it we were back to T-shirts and flip flops. Mother Nature will always keep us guessing.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Teagan Brown and Heytor Dias who celebrated on June 18; Desmond Moore on June 19; Carlos Dias and Asher Savva on June 21; Christian Fisher on June 22; and to Maite De Morais on June 24.
The trees are in full foliage and the town is beautiful. I took a ride through town after work and once again thought “wow, I really live here.” Between the Old Whaling Church and the Court House, then the whiteness of Alchemy, with the trees accenting those places, you can’t help but admire them. Then of course at the end of town — when you see the harbor with Chappy in the background — you definitely know you are in a special place.
This is the first Fourth of July in two years that we can look forward to the parade and fireworks. I know that the Colonial Navy of Fall River will be one of the participants. I am sure it is going to be a big celebration. I also look forward to seeing the Scottish band, all the veterans, and of course Camp Jabberwocky to see what their theme is this year.
Jared’s Garden was the place for two special ceremonies on June 19. Sandy and Lori Fisher renewed their vows after 47 years of marriage. They were married in December but they shared their renewal with their daughter Leanne and Adam Evans who were married exactly a year ago. Congratulations to both couples and here is to many more years together.
Remember school is getting out next week so keep an eye open for kids walking and riding bikes. I hope both teachers and students have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you all in the fall.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
