It has been a great mix of weather. Some rain, some fog and nice sun to warm up the few cooler days we had. The sunsets have been beautiful and I am sure the fishermen have been enjoying them.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Lucas De Oliveira and Benjamin Donato who celebrated on Sept. 24; McCabe Neadow and Michael Waters on Sept. 25; Quinlan Meuse and Jake Stanton on Sept. 27; Helena Goncalves and Gabrielle McKenzie on Sept. 28; Conor Beeson on Sept. 29; and to Colt Hannah, Jocie Smith and Jax Trot, who all celebrate on Sept. 30.
In 2016 a young lady named Noelle Lambert and her friend were riding on a moped. They were in a terrible accident in Oak Bluffs and Noelle lost her leg. She was a lacrosse, basketball and soccer player and everyone assumed her career was over.
But she is proving us all wrong. Shortly after the accident she said that she would be playing lacrosse again and she made that statement come true. In 2018, after months of physical rehabilitation and re-training, she played her first game for UMass Lowell against Hartford and she got her first goal. There was no stopping her. She became a paralympian and now she is on Survivor this season.
This young lady is amazing. Her life in sports could have been over but she had her mind made up and she is succeeding. You go, girl; we are all rooting for you.
I take an interest in her as my cousin Jenny Furtado was two cars behind the accident and she also wondered what her life would be like. We have been following her.
Paul Doherty is showing his photographs at the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse in Vineyard Haven through Oct. 15. The Playhouse Art Space is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m., by chance or by appointment. I have been following his work on Facebook and it is beautiful. If you get a chance, go and see his photography. You will not be disappointed.
The realization that fall is here comes in day by day. We have the mums in but they are not in full bloom. The cabbages and peppers are getting bigger and are great fillers for your planters. The spring bulbs arrived.
I must admit I don’t like the leftover greens after they bloom, but I love seeing their beautiful blooms in March after a long winter.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
