We have had some relief from the heat, but I am sitting here listening to the glorious rain. It is nice to hear it at night and know we won’t have to water tomorrow.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to William Goggins and Liah Webb, who celebrated July 28; Chloe Cook, Caleb Kahn, July 30; Guilherme Silva, July 31; and to Rebecca Duarte, who celebrates her day today August 2.

I can’t believe it is August already. We know that it is a change over of people, parents are preparing their older kids for college, college kids are leaving their summer jobs early to enjoy what is left of the summer and people are preparing their entries for the fair. August is the month with a lot of different emotions.

Congratulations to Winnetu Oceanside Resort out at Katama. They were ranked 16 out of the top 100 hotels in the world according to readers of Travel & Leisure magazine (with 186,000 readers completing the survey) and there were only three others listed in New England.

Now is the time to be watching the blueberry bushes in our yards as the birds are beginning to raid them even before the berries are quite ripe enough for us humans as witnessed by Pat Tyra with her seven-foot bush. The birds are snacking there morning, noon and night!

I enjoyed the opening of the Olympics with my family. We celebrated with foods from different countries and the kids participated by drawing the counties flag in front of where that dish was from. It was fun to see the whole family and enjoy opening day.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
