We are getting that nice fall weather. We had a couple of days of humidity, but there was a breeze to go with it. Also, we have had a couple of mornings when it was warmer outside than in the house. Now we are at the point where we start the fight and say we will not put the heat on until November first.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Dylan Beeson and Murilo Trindade, who celebrated Oct. 1; Raya Pencheva, Leonora Reid, Tristan Talbot, Robert Moriarty, Angelina Rosa Duarte, Oct. 3; and to Shanoiya Coke, who celebrates her day today Oct. 4.
Pumpkin season has arrived. It used to be one orange pumpkin, cut it open get the seeds, make the triangles for eyes and nose and try to make a mouth with at least one tooth, stick a candle in it close the top done. Now there is the white pumpkin and yellow pumpkins, specialty pumpkins that are different shapes, different colors and textured skins, jack be littles which are cute tiny pumpkins and don’t forget the gourds. They make great displays and a nice center piece for your table.
I was talking to Paul from the Dairy Queen, and he said that they are going to try to stay open until Christmas. They may shorten their days but they are going to try their hardest to remain open.
Only two more Wednesday’s mornings for Derby fish distribution at the Anchors. Get there before 8:30 a.m. for your number as distribution goes by the order of your arrival. It is unknown ahead of time how much bluefish or bonito will be available. You might want to ask for Pat Tyra’s mother’s bluefish recipe if some copies are still available.
Once again, we are in the positive off-Island news with the Hob Knob Inn selected 1 of 16 Bay State hotels included in the current second annual Michelin Hotel Guide. Congratulations to all.
