Flooding thunder and lightning storm and hail. Where I am we got very little hail but just up the street they had moth ball size hail, and they could scoop it up. Now we are back to warm and some humidity. We just never know what to expect.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Anna Rodrigues, who celebrated August 24; Joao Oliveira and Prado Oliveira, August 27; and to Rayssa Donato, who celebrated her day August 28.

Hurray hurray it is Labor Day. My friend Jan Norton would call me Labor Day morning and sing that phrase. It was because we would always see the difference in weather, people and cars. Now people are here longer and there is little change in the number of cars. This is not a bad thing, but you would always see a huge difference in days past.

So, how do you know it is Labor Day? The teachers are back at school setting up their classrooms, the nights are nice and cool, the lines in the Stop & Shop are not to bad, there is not a big line of cars at Cannon Ball park coming back from the beach, pumpkin spice is back on the coffee menu, you can drive downtown and get a parking space, businesses are gearing up for wedding season, fishermen are gearing up for the derby, the mums, asters, peppers and cabbages, are coming out to replace the summer flowers, home owners are here after a summer of rental to enjoy their homes, it is dark before 8 p.m. and just getting light at 6 a.m., college students are back in their dorms, and freshman college students parents are getting their first look at empty nest syndrome, the Chappy ferry line is smaller and it is football season.

Whatever your plans are for this long weekend, I hope you enjoy and be safe.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
