Heat on, heat off. Yup, it is that time of year where we are trying to hold off till the first of November but brrr. There were a few days of cold and I did turn the heat on to take the chill off the house. Then I promptly turned it off. Let’s see how long it lasts.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Reese McCracken who celebrated her day Oct. 15, and to Arthur Avansini who celebrated Oct. 17.

Congratulations to all the fishermen and women who won prizes in the derby and to those who fished their hearts out even though they could not catch the big one. The derby is over but the fishing is not. There is always that one big one out there to be caught.

The nursery is starting to empty. The tropicals are being cut back some and put in the back houses that stay warm for the winter. Some still have blooms on them but it’s time for them to go to bed for the winter.

I think even if you are not sports fans, this week and weekend will be full of sleepless nights. It started this past Sunday night with the Red Sox and Patriots playing at the same time. The Sox won but the nail biter was the Patriots right down to the last seconds. I know there were lots of people walking around on lots of caffeine. By the time the game was over, the adrenaline was running wild through the whole body and sleep was the last thing on the mind.

Please keep me in mind if you have something special going on. News is down as people are starting their busy lives with family and some are starting to hibernate. Be it special birthdays or anniversaries–whatever, send it along. Even if you have company and want to share your weekend adventures, you might give others ideas what to do if they have company.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
