Time is right for crunching leaves underfoot on a hike. Tim Johnson

Sunday, November 15, 2020

Now is the time for leisurely drives on roads where traffic is the exception, not the rule, down lanes that are deserted in the chill of deepening autumn. Most of all, it is the time for walks. Birds far outnumber people along our beaches now, the conservation lands are open spaces, the ancient ways never more appealing. And a dog by your side will only help you notice every squirrel and swirling leaf along the way.

There are no fears on this face, and yet, though warm and unafraid, this lamb is alert to my presence, hundreds of miles distant.
