Heartbreakers running club from the Boston area dominated the Gay Head 10K road race Sunday, with club members Justin Keefe winning the men’s division and Emily Ganley finishing first in the women’s division.
More than 100 runners braved chilly, blustery winds and a hilly course to compete in the third annual Gay Head Light 10K Sunday. Rene Da Silva of Vineyard Haven blew the field away, finishing with a time of 36:45.
Vineyard runners took home top medals in the second annual Gay Head 10K held Sunday morning, beginning with Edgartown native Jamie Smadbeck who crossed the finish line first with a time of 40:18. Mr. Smadbeck and his fiancee ran in memory of her mother, who recently died of lung cancer.
On Sunday morning the town of Aquinnah hosts a 10K run, the first of its kind in the area. The race is part of the Save the Gay Head Lighthouse campaign. Aquinnah police are asking residents of Moshup Trail and State Road to use extra caution when exiting their driveways. Read more ....
