The Coast Guard suspended the search for the owner of an unmanned kayak spotted near Gay Head Light Wednesday, believing the boat was adrift from a mooring.
The board voted unanimously at its June 28 meeting to reject Island Adventure Rentals’ application to resume moped rentals on Beach Road. The business had long been one of the few remaining moped rental operations on the Island but closed during the pandemic.
The ferry line announced Wednesday that it was changing the rules for the “blue line” standby on the Vineyard route, moving from a hard cap of 15 vehicles a day to a new rolling 12-vehicle cap.
While many have touted the arrival of offshore wind, there are also concerns about the scope of the effort and the potential for irreparable damage to species that live and migrate through the area.
The Martha’s Vineyard Surfcasters Association has run a courtesy patrol for more than 30 years on the island’s beaches, lending a hand to beachgoers, fishermen and the Trustees staff.
