The Oak Bluffs selectmen this week tapped their police chief and the recently retired Tisbury fire chief to help lead the next phase for the town fire and EMS departments.
After a tumultuous winter that resulted in the departure of fire and EMS chief John Rose, Oak Bluffs has taken steps to restructure and rethink the town fire and EMS operation.
A 20-year-old male was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with serious injuries Monday after from the Little Bridge in Oak Bluffs, town fire chief Martin Greene confirmed.
Oak Bluffs has named Martin Greene, former Bourne fire chief, to be the town’s interim fire chief. A veteran firefighter from just over the bridge on Cape Cod, Mr. Greene was the unanimous choice of the Oak Buffs selectmen.
Oak Bluffs selectmen said this week they have begun networking with other fire department heads, on Island and on Cape Cod, as they map a transition plan for the fire department.
