Chef Ting is moving into the former Bombay Indian Cuisine in Oak Bluffs with plans to expand her catering business and help strengthen the Black cooking community on Martha's Vineyard.

A plan to open an Iggy's Bread location at the former Bite location in Chilmark raised concerns about changes in the fishing village Tuesday.

Theresa Manning, the co-owner of Cliffhangers Aquinnah, said she is renovating the Vineyard Haven restaurant as her team prepares to open a year-round eatery called Quitsa Kitchen.

The Oak Bluffs select board rejected the Healey Square restaurant’s plans to expand its outdoor seating this week, capping debate that has been going on since April. 

The select board Tuesday voted to hold a special town meeting on June 25 at 7 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs Elementary School to reauthorize two borrowing articles that were approved at the 2022 annual town meeting. 

Island Food Realty, which purchased the property for $1.3 million, hopes to find someone to open a new restaurant at the 7 Oakland avenue location.

The Edgartown select board Tuesday approved Carlos Teles' liquor license for a new restaurant at the former Sharky's Cantina location.

Midnight Taco, which previously operated next to the Sand Bar in downtown Oak Bluffs, will reopen as a 49-seat restaurant with a patio this year across the street in the former Juice By the Sea location. 

Joe and Emily Monteiro, the team behind 19 Prime and 19 Raw, are taking over the Copper Anchor’s lease this April, looking to open a new restaurant, 9, later this spring.

At an Aquinnah select board meeting Tuesday, Wenonah Madison, president of the Aquinnah Land Initiative, which announced plans to purchase the iconic restaurant last year, said she hopes to have it back in operation this season.
