Planning for a new school in Tisbury begins in earnest with the news last week that the school has been invited to participate in a specialized state grant program for school buildings.
Tisbury School students traveled to New Bedford recently to take part in the Southeast Chapter MathCounts competition along with more than a dozen other schools.
As part of an effort to address a deteriorating school building and a growing student population, the Tisbury school committee will apply again for state funding to renovate the Tisbury school.
After a state application to renovate the aging school fell through, members of the town and school community hope to kick start a new effort. The school did not make it onto the funding list for the Massachusetts School Building Authority.
