A new or renovated Tisbury school building will be located on the existing site on Spring street following a narrow vote by the school building committee Wednesday evening.
With a final vote expected soon on where to site a new Tisbury School, town residents will have a final chance to weigh in at a public forum tomorrow. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the school gymnasium.
The Tisbury School should stay at its current site. That was the consensus of the selectmen at their meeting Tuesday. Working with the Massachusetts School Building Authority grant program, the town has been exploring an array of options for a new school.
In 1967, sixth graders at the Tisbury school created a time capsule, filling a metal box and sealing it away into the wall of the library. On Saturday, some of those students gathered to open it.
