WMVY is teaming up with Club Passim in Cambridge for a joint benefit concert featuring Martin Sexton on Friday, Aug. 4 at the Old Whaling Church.

The folk trio I'm With Her will perform at Edgartown’s Old Whaling Church on Wednesday, July 12. The group includes Aoife O’Donovan, Sara Watkins and Sarah Jarosz.

A music group that plays to sold-out mainland audiences every December is making its Island debut Saturday, Dec. 17.

Some 1,700 people turned out at the Portuguese American Club in Oak Bluffs on a rain and sleet-driven Saturday to sample some of the best chili recipes and raise more than $27,000 for the Red Stocking Fund at the 29th annual event sponsored by radio station WMVY.

WMVY offers an opportunity for volunteers to gather and discuss ways to help the non-profit radio station on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 2 to 3 p.m.

Vineyard radio station WMVY is back on the airwaves, about 15 months after losing its radio signal and changing to an online-only format.

The popular independent radio station began broadcasting on 88.7 at about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The sold-out event sponsored by WMVY raised $34,000 for the Red Stocking Fund this year. People sampled chilis and danced to the music of the Mariachi Mexico Lindo Band, the Baja Brothers and later Johnny Hoy.

The 28th Annual Big Chili Contest, a major fundraiser for both the Red Stocking Fund and the Portuguese-American Club, begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the P.A. Club in Oak Bluffs (snow date is Sunday).
