Friday afternoon in Menemsha this past week was rather interesting. The tug boat pulled the barge and crane out from where the new Coast Guard boathouse dock is being built, which is similar to a landing strip.
Pat Gregory: a loving family man, a peaceful soul, an inspiring educator, a community leader, a generous man, always with his assuring smile. The passing of Pat has touched every corner of the Vineyard.

Welcome to our newest family member, Kylee Rose Todd, who was born in Saginaw, Mich., on April 29, a few weeks earlier than expected. Kylee weighed in at 3 pounds 15 ounces and is 16.5 inches long
Spring is springing with the dogwoods in bloom, the forsythia with bright yellow blossoms, crab apples are blossoming, daffodils still dazzling, pinkletinks are in loud chorus, robins finding their worms, neighbors opening their summer homes.
The weather over the past week has felt a little more spring-like, with temperatures in the mid 60s.
Once upon a time I enjoyed attending Martha’s Vineyard airport commission meetings but that was in 1998 when I recorded and transcribed their minutes — just before my heart attack.
The shops are preparing to open at the Cliffs. A tour bus was at the Cliffs this week already.
Trees are being trimmed. Robins are in more abundance, although they tend to stay around now during the winter and are not part of the great migration. It’s nice to take fresh breaths of spring air.
