Chilmark is moving at warp speed. My advice is to slow down and watch the motorcade go by. Wave if you aren’t on the phone. Chilmark welcomes the First Family for their annual vacation amongst us.
No wonder everyone is moving so fast, too much to do and too little time to do them all. The good weather days offer the beaches and fishing and the rainy days offer the shopping tours.
Chilmark welcomes August and all the folks arriving this week for their month in the sun. It was a quick goodbye to our annual July friends — did we actually catch a moment with them, or was it just a quick greeting?
The sunset on Sunday just passed attracted a huge crowd to the Menemsha Beach — many who will no doubt enjoy parking at the off-site location on Tabor House Road after August 1.
Chilmark has lots of visitors; families and weekenders gathering for swimming at our beaches, checking out all the activities planned, and, of course, our spectacular sunsets.
Chilmark joins the rest of the Island in sending condolences to the family of Alexandro Garcia of Springfield, who died last Wednesday in a moped accident in our town.
Chilmark is anticipating the usual wonderful Fourth of July weekend and hoping that the fine weather of this week past will continue through the holiday.
Chilmark joins all those who very much enjoyed having the restored whaler Charles W. Morgan brought to Vineyard Haven. It is a beautiful restoration and those involved were rightly proud of their work and enjoyed sharing with us.
Chilmark, please excuse the missing column last week and we will try to catch up this week. Every now and again, the computer age moves on without me. We are hoping for better this week.
