A Dukes County grand jury last week indicted a Cape Cod man for charges connected to an alleged stabbing in West Tisbury.

Joseph Feliciano, 26, of Buzzards Bay, was indicted June 26 on charges of assault to murder, mayhem, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on an ambulance worker.

Mr. Feliciano is accused of stabbing a friend’s fiance in the eye during a disagreement over Memorial Day Weekend. Mr. Feliciano, who appears to have had a history of mental health issues, was staying at a friend’s home on Buttonwood Farm Road in West Tisbury in late May.

The friend told police that Mr. Feliciano had overstayed his welcome, and, when the friend tried to get him to leave, he grew angry. He eventually snapped, according to a police report, when he was accused of stealing the friend’s vape.

Mr. Feliciano allegedly attempted to stab the woman multiple times and when her fiance intervened, Mr. Feliciano allegedly stabbed him in his eye.

The alleged victim, a 42-year-old West Tisbury resident, suffered a three-inch cut that punctured his sinus cavity, a cut facial muscle and a broken orbital bone.

Mr. Feliciano was initially arraigned in Edgartown District Court and held without bail.

The indictments move the case over to Dukes County Superior Court. Mr. Feliciano is set to be arraigned in the higher court on July 24.
