Late last month, after eight months of construction to replace the roof, the public was welcomed back to the pews and stained glass windows of the wrought-iron venue, just in time for Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School’s graduation.

David Murphy, who was accused of drunkenly crashing a muscle car through the Camp Ground in Oak Bluffs last year, pleaded guilty to several charges in Edgartown District Court Friday.

Lorna Welch filed a complaint in Dukes County Superior Court last week asking a judge to order David C. Murphy to pay for her medical care for injuries she suffered when he allegedly drove his car through the Camp Ground.

Police arrested a man on drunken driving charges this weekend after he allegedly drove through a pedestrian-only neighborhood in the Camp Ground, damaging porches of two iconic Oak Bluffs gingerbread cottages and other property.

A Michigan State University researcher is working to uncover the history of the old tabernacle and religious community that made a home in 19th century East Chop, then known as the Highlands.

On Wednesday, August 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., six Camp Ground homes will be open to the public for touring.
