After the winter we have been having I think we can say that this week’s weather has been balmy. It has hit 40 degrees and we were all ready to pull out the shorts; running around without the jacket and gloves was a good thing.
Snow: There are people that still love it and then there are those who are just tired of it and want to see grass and the ground without shoveling to get to it.
Jan and Floyd Norton’s daughter Debbie wrote this poem and I thought it would be a great way to start the column, since we just got three inches of fresh snow on the ground.
I think Wayne Jackson said it best on Facebook. He said, “I think I just saw a polar bear and penguin go by.” It does seem like we are living in another part of the world with all the white stuff we have on the ground and all the ice floating in the harbors, but we know with a few days of fog we will be rid of it. We just need to get the days warm enough.
Green, that is the color I am thinking of as I look outside. I was always told that snow is nature’s fertilizer, and all I can think is that when this all melts and spring is here, we are going to have some really green grass.
Some people are saying “uncle” with the snow, but after watching what Boston is going through with the snow and snow removal, I think we are pretty okay.
I think even though we all watched the weather closely, there were those who still thought the storm might just pass around us.
What can one say about this crazy weather? One day you are unfreezing your car and the next day you are opening the windows because it is so warm.
I keep hearing that people are sick of this weather already and they are ready for spring. However, if they thought about last winter we had several inches of snow and it was a lot colder.
