Native Vineyarder Kenneth Vincent began his career as a janitor at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Working at the hospital meant he had first dibs on a set of old sheets they were giving away. Today his landscapes show his deep connection to the Island. Mr. Vincent opens his 12th show and the Granary Gallery’s summer season alongside David Wallis and Alison Shaw on July 3. A reception will be held Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The show runs until July 16.
She's a regular on Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me on NPR and stages around the country, and Friday Paula Poundstone takes the stage at the Old Whaling Church, the inaugural show of the Martha's Vineyard Concert Series. Show time is at 8 p.m.
Livingston Taylor returns to a familiar haunt, the stage at the Old Whaling Church. This marks his 48th year performing on the Vineyard, starting with a performance Saturday, July 2 at 7:30 p.m. His nephew Isaac Taylor and Chelsea Berry will join him for the performance.
The Christina Gallery on North Water street in Edgartown celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. A reception for artists William Davis, Lloyd Kelly and Marjorie Mason takes place on July 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. Their work will hang in the Christina Gallery all summer.
Let the summer reading begin. Martha's Vineyard libraries kick off their summer reading program on Saturday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at the Agricultural Hall. Entertainer Jungle Jim will perform.
Michelle Dorrance once again brings her company Dorrance Dance to the Vineyard to start the Yard’s annual festival TapTheYard, celebrating tap dance in all its forms. Performances are at 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday, July 2 at the Performing Arts Center.

It's the final call for concerts at Flatbread, formerly Hot Tin Roof. The Stars + Stripes concert, a benefit for the YMCA, features Magic Man with lead singer Sam Vanderhoop Lee of Aquinnah and Newton. The show begins at 7 p.m.
The Hon. Jeh Johnson, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and longtime Vineyard visitor, will speak Sunday at 10 a.m. at Union Chapel.
Monday brings annual Fourth of July festivities up-Island and down. Aquinnah's annual South Road parade kicks off at 11 a.m. and the Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association parade at the Camp Ground begins at 10 a.m. The big show starts in Edgartown with the parade at 5 p.m.; fireworks are at dusk.
