Dreaming of the winter weather takes your mind off the heat and humidity, at least for a moment. The weather has been beautiful all week and the honeysuckle are now in bloom. Thankfully the holiday weekend was a quiet one.
Summer has arrived and the hydrangeas are beautiful and in abundance across the Vineyard. The roses are gorgeous as well. Amazing how these all survived the mounds of snow over the winter but the spring thaw must have watered their roots well. Happy Fourth of July—enjoy the parades and parties and have a safe weekend.
At last, summer has arrived. There have been spectacular surprises with the sunrise and sunset times over the past week. The roses are in bloom across the Vineyard, draped neatly across fences or on trellises.
Rosa rugosa are in full bloom along the shore. Bright fuschia and white blossoms awaiting to bear fruit in a few weeks. We finally had a significant downpour on Monday to wash away the pollen. Summer is almost here.
The temperatures have dipped to the 50s most of the week but there is an abundance of rhododendrons in full blood across the Vineyard. A few drops of scattered rain to water the gardens. Only a few squid are in Menemsha Bight at this time.
The rain came. The pollen is slowly dissipating. The azaleas are in bloom and many other beautiful flowering shrubs and trees. The crepe myrtle look rather fancy this time of the year in preparation for the late summer blossoms.
Summer is getting closer, the trees are budding, rhododendron and azaleas are in bloom, even a few roses are blossoming already. The temperatures have been relatively warm but now we look for rain.
Spring has really arrived. The temperatures have hovered in the mid 70s during the week. Beach plum bushes are in full bloom as are the lilies of the valley and the Scottish broom. The Aquinnah Shop Restaurant will be open over the weekend with extended hours.
It has been in the 70s most days this past week, with a few days of significant fog but for the most part rather sunny. The mayflowers and the shad are in bloom, as are the lilacs and paperwhites.
