At last, temperatures have reached the 72 degree mark over the weekend. Lilacs are in bloom and fragrantly inviting us all to gather bouquets. The field are full of buttercups. The songbirds are singing.
At last, the temperatures have reached the 60s once again. The shadbush are in bloom, which signifies the abundance run of the herring in season.
The weather this past week may have been cold and dreary but spirits are rather warmed with many great feats along the way. Randall Jette, a former MVRHS football star, has signed on with the Green Bay Packers. Chris Fischer won a prestigious James Beard award for his Beetlebung Farm Cookbook. The Red Sox are winning!
The pinkletinks are still in full chorus each night. The skunk cabbage is in abundance along the roadsides. Lawns are really green and even a few dandelions are in bloom. Morning Glory Farm opens Friday!
Spring has sprung. Thermostat off. Winter coats, boots, and gloves packed away.= An abundance of forsythia, jonquils, daffodils, paper whites, and tulips are in bloom.
Spring is in the air as are the allergens associated with all that blossoms. Dogwoods are starting to bloom, displaying their magnificence. The temperatures have hovered in the 40s and 50s this week with overcast skies. It appears that the snow has finally ended. At least we can hope it has.
What a week, the temperatures have gone from the 60s down to 20. Snow overnight on two occasions that melted rather quickly. A little sleet. Snow showers even on Tuesday. We still know it is spring as the forsythia is in full bloom along with the daffodils.
The pinkletinks have announced their arrival and have been in full chorus along Lighthouse Road since March 24. Herring are running at the herring creek to spawn in Squibnocket Pond. Spring is in the air and many families spent the Easter weekend at their seasonal homes.
The first snow of spring fell on Sunday evening and into Monday morning. Instead of the six to eight inches predicted, it was more like six-eighths of an inch dusting.
