Chilmark welcomes home recently-elected selectman Jim Malkin and his wife, Joan, who are back at their South Road home and their assorted town commitments after an enjoyable month’s vacation in Italy.

Chilmark’s waterfront is getting lots of attention this summer. This week we all enjoyed the sight of the Polynesian sailing vessel Hokule’a. She made an unscheduled overnight stop in Menemsha and was a lovely surprise sight for many who saw her.

Chilmark is looking lush and green with roadsides trimmed and daisies and buttercups blooming everywhere. Where are all those grey branches of yesterday? Our sunsets are striking in color and they occur later now allowing for supper crowds to make it to the beach in time for Mother Nature’s show.

Chilmark enjoyed the first holiday weekend of the season with a two out of three good days ratio…sort of average for New England.
