Chilmark heads into the last two weeks of summer with lots of enthusiasm and plenty of plans yet to be realized.

Chilmark movie maker Thomas Bena, who is the executive and creative director of the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival, will be screening his movie, One Big Home, on Friday, July 29 at the Chilmark Community Center at 8 p.m.

Chilmark’s waterfront is getting lots of attention this summer. This week we all enjoyed the sight of the Polynesian sailing vessel Hokule’a. She made an unscheduled overnight stop in Menemsha and was a lovely surprise sight for many who saw her.
Chilmark faced a tough few minutes on Saturday when a sportfishing boat caught fire just outside the jetties. Our harbor master Dennis Jason and his assistant, Glenn DeBlase, went to the rescue.
