We are heading into a long weekend as Monday is President’s Day so the schools, post office and all town buildings will be closed.
It’s been quiet in town since the holidays. Folks are going away on vacation or will next week and that is about the size of it.
We have had a tough January this year with two snow storms that deposited a small amount of snow. The stretch of severe cold and wind slowed down the melting.
The weather was a bit more seasonable last weekend — almost spring like except for the strong wind on Saturday.
The winter blahs have set in. We are less than two short months away from the start of Daylight Saving time and spring.
Well we had our first significant northeast storm of the year last Thursday. Winds did howl with wind gusts over 65 mph, and boat service and schools were suspended.
It has been like Siberia all week with record cold temperatures, wind chill and the danger of frost bite, making it a memorable experience for the start of 2018.
Well the automobile traffic in town was nearly non-existent most of the day as families gathered around their tree to exchange gifts and enjoy a family dinner.
All is ready for Christmas on Monday. There is still time for a tiny amount of time for some last-minute shopping.
