It was a great weekend. People seemed to be everywhere. The weather, Passover, Easter, Patriots Day and school vacation were wrapped in one.
Friday is the beginning of a holiday weekend. Patriots Day is Monday and all town buildings will be closed.
The weekend weather was more like winter than spring, rain all day Saturday with snow showers and strong wind forcing the cancellation of most all SSA boats.
The record book on March closes Friday and it has been one of the colder months on record. The weekend was about 10 degrees colder than the previous week and the month was like a lion with cold, snow, wet and very windy weather.
As you have noticed, the days are getting thankfully longer; we now have more than 12 hours of daylight each day but the thermometer has not climbed above 46 degrees, in fact the cold persists.
Spring will be here in a just six days and that will not be soon enough for many of us. We have been walloped by snow and the coldest temperatures of the winter.
Don’t forget that Sunday morning we will return to Daylight Saving Time, so turn your clocks ahead Saturday night before bed so you will not be late for church. The sun will be setting around 6:30 p.m.
February was one of the warmest months since record keeping began in 1882. We did have two decent snowstorms, rain, wind, and a real cold blast but that was it. It was 69 degrees last Friday afternoon.
Well it sure will be like a ghost town all week mainly because of the school’s winter vacation.
