The fall foliage display that we have enjoyed on the Vineyard is coming to an abrupt close with the leaves blowing off the trees and now dotting the landscape along the roadways. We have enjoyed beautiful weather this week with temperatures in the 60s and the roses are still in bloom at the Howes House. Grass is beginning to green and reappear in many areas and is now awaiting a final mow for the season.

Thank you to Mark Alan Lovewell for his superb writing regarding our Manning family home which was torn down on June 8. There will be two new modular homes arriving on July 8. One home will be for Paul, Theresa and Noah James Manning, and the other home will be my down-sized retirement abode. We are all grateful to keep the property in the Manning family and for the next generations to enjoy. In the meantime, I will look forward to frequent visits from my sisters Judith and Jyl.

Our sincerest condolences to the family, extended family, friends and colleagues of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy. Not only has our Commonwealth lost a great man but our nation has lost one of the greatest Senators.

There were so many issues that Senator Kennedy would oversee in his years representing one and all. He was tireless in his advocacy for those less fortunate who shall never forget what he has accomplished.
