The Manning modular homes arrived on site from Huntington Homes in Vermont on Tuesday amid great fanfare, as our family and friends and very special neighbors all cheered the day along. Luncheon was served for builder Dave Gampfer and his crew, who will work on the site for the next few months. So, like the Phoenix, the home has arisen from the ashes. Thank you to one and all for your continuous support of this long process.
Congratulations and all the best to William Durwood (Woody) Vanderhoop and Jamie Sue Spears who were married on April 17 in San Diego, Calif. They are still having their traditional ceremony in September as planned with their family and friends. Their honeymoon included a side trip to Los Angeles and Hollywood and a drive up the California coast.
The Aquinnah special town meeting scheduled for Feb. 3 has been postponed until a later date. The selectmen are anticipating a meeting to be scheduled in late March or early April. We’ll keep you informed.
The Aquinnah children’s parade on July 4 will begin at 11 a.m. on Old South Road. The reviewing stand will be at the Murphy home near Moshup Trail. Always a fun time for the children and their families.
The Soloist will premier worldwide on Friday, April 24. It is based on a true story about a homeless schizophrenic pianist who lives on skid row in Los Angeles. He was a professionally trained musician and has dreams of playing at the Disney concert hall and by chance meets a journalist to make his dreams come true. The Soloist stars Jamie Foxx, Catherine Keener and Robert Downey Jr. The producer is Aquinnah’s own Gary Foster of East Pasture.
April Fools’ day came and went. About two years ago, though, the sign at West Basin disappeared. If you crossed the town line early in the wee hours on Wednesday, you would have noticed it was creatively placed over the entering Aquinnah sign, pointing one in the direction of West Basin. So we have faith that perhaps one day the entering Gay Head sign will also resurface.
