I hope you all rested up during the snow months because the Island offers so much excitement from now on, starting with tomorrow’s annual Bike MS: Ride the Vineyard. The fun, fun ride is brought to you by the New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and our own Boys and Girls Club. It is not too late to register to ride; registration on the day of the ride is $35 plus a $2.50 pledge requirement.
Our annual sure sign the season has changed — Martha Dunham and her rugged clan on Skiff avenue have been using their outdoor shower for the past month.
For those of you who know I am recovering off-Island, be assured that my telephone number above is connected to where I am now, so do not hesitate to call me with your guests, your news, your outings.
Since I was unable to view your wee St. Patrick’s Day parade on-Island, since I was unable to join in the wearing of the green at the Ocean View, Ritz, or other venues of good food and drink, I rose early on St. Patrick’s Day and decorated the house.
Is this significant? This is our second month in a row with a Friday the 13th. I prefer to think of it as good luck. As I struggle to become more adept on the computer I am leaving a trail of laughing friends on Islanders Talk, among them Kara Best and Hunter Thomas. I made some mistakes last week. Kara felt the need to apologize for me in public for being such a dinosaur.
Do you like good writing? Do you like to read? What do you read, Emmanuel Kant, David Berry, Primo Levi, Danielle Steele? All the town columns, the editorials, the letters to the editor?
All the changes in society (Do you text at the table? Can you check your email in front of people at a cocktail party?) means that we need a Miss Manners for this era, and I volunteer.
