Hacked again! Who would ever say anything bad about my colleague Holly Nadler? It was lovely to have my first phone call this morning be from Holly, but awful to hear that I have been saying terrible things about her on Facebook, even to the point of posting a video about the errors of her ways.
I can definitely say that the three Nancy Gardellas were on-Island last weekend. One was no doubt very busy at the chamber of commerce, one had made a circuitous route here from Florida to New York to Pennsylvania, and the other one is running a combination youth hostel and pet retreat.
It’s time to read again! My favorite clock has been placed across from the old Bunch of Grapes building to the front of the new Bunch of Grapes. What a pleasure.
I spent Wednesday afternoon with my two assistants, Cheyenne and Monique Cormier, playing tourist. We had a blast shopping on Main street. We entered stores I have never had time to see, as well as some of our best standbys, and bought trinkets and gifts for all our family members.
I drove to my bank and looked through the window and saw a customer service representative at the desk with a baseball cap on. “Huh,” I thought, “it isn’t even dress-down Friday.” I entered Martha’s Vineyard Co-operative bank and, guess what? Every employee was dressed in Red Sox regalia.
“Is it Halloween?” I asked. “Or am I in the Red Sox dugout?” Turns out, for solidarity, all bank employees dressed for the Sox on Wednesday.
My favorite seven-letter word: amnesty! All Island libraries are offering their annual amnesty on books, tapes, and DVDs now through Dec. 31. Librarians always like a fresh start for the new year.
Stephen Dunham’s back and Vineyard Haven has him. Stephen returned a few weeks ago from South Dakota and is at his Mom’s, Martha’s. Soon his two kids, Stephen Jr., and Rebecca, will return from college for the holiday break. The whole gang is almost here!
