I admit I’m powerless against technology. Special thanks to Jill LaPiana at Cumberland Farms who was so patient in helping me set up the temporary cell phone I had to purchase there. My regular one, which I’m still learning to use, is not operative. Jill took time from a busy day and led me through all the steps. The Cumby’s gang is like family: coffee and newspaper in the morning, hello to all your friends, great music, what more could we want?
The Red Stocking elves have certainly been busy making a Merry Christmas for all Island children. Our thanks go to Lorraine Clark, Kerry Alley, and the many, many people who help them make it possible for every Island child to have gifts under the tree and, in fact, a tree. There’s no nicer greeter in the morning to say hello, have a great day, and ring up your cup of coffee than Glenda Medeiros at Cumby’s. Glenda’s son Michael has been quite sick for some time. He is now home from the hospital but requires a lot of nursing care. The family’s expenses have mounted terribly during this event. There is a nice fat donation jar on the counter at Cumby’s. Make it a Merry Christmas for Glenda and Michael.
Congratulations to two new American citizens who studied very hard and passed their tests: Joalson Cardoso who became a citizen on Oct. 23, and Ana Maria Cecilio who passed her test on Nov. 24. Both are pleased and proud and looking forward to voting in their first election. Welcome to the club!
