Welcome Nonna! John Doyle of White Plains and West Tisbury very kindly drove my mom, Iole Gardella, to the Island yesterday, on his birthday, no less. Amber Willoughby wasted no time getting over to visit with Nonna. Meanwhile, Paul and Marge Hows said goodbye to their granddaughter, Bridget Slomka, from Goodyear, Ariz., yesterday and are preparing to welcome daughter, Julia, son in law Javier, and grandkids, Aidan and Olivia, today.
School’s out! So Bridget Slomka, granddaughter of Marge and Paul Howes of Vineyard Haven, wasted no time getting on a plane from Phoenix and heading to Logan, where Paul met her and brought her down to the Island last night. Bridget had spent one year here in the Tisbury School before moving to Kentucky, now to Arizona, so she is looking forward to connecting with her old young friends.
This is a long-delayed Valentine card to my friends, the manager, Liza Buckley, and the staff at Cumberland Farms. What would I do without these people? They make my every waking day wonderful; visiting in the morning is my social hour, along with the usual suspects who show up for coffee and a newspaper. The crew is friendly, helpful, cheerful and caring. Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!
